The First Step Toward Off-Leash Adventure

Nature Dog 1 is designed for families who enjoy hiking, exploring, and spending time outdoors with their dogs. This foundational course teaches the skills needed for safe and reliable off-leash hiking by using long leads to gradually build freedom, responsiveness, and trust.

Throughout the course, you and your dog will learn:

• Reliable recall foundations and coming when called
• How to keep your dog engaged and focused outdoors
• Loose-leash walking and following skills on trails
• Check-in behavior and staying connected with you at a distance
• Basic obedience commands in outdoor environments
• Patience and impulse control around wildlife, people, and other distractions
• Building confidence and reliability with increased freedom
• Proper use of long lines to safely prepare for future off-leash work

By combining foundational obedience with real-world outdoor training, Nature Dog 1 helps create a dog that can safely and confidently accompany you on hikes and outdoor adventures while remaining responsive and under control.

This course runs for 3 consecutive weeks unless otherwise noted. If you miss a class, a make-up session can be scheduled at the cost of half of a private lesson.
